  • That’s a Wrap!

The 2025 East Bay Dirt Classic is in the books! Thanks to all participants who made this year the best edition yet!

Between the record number of participants, beautiful weather and setting a new record of over $82,000 raised for the Alameda County Community Food Bank, it was our best edition yet. Thanks to all who raced and helped fundraise, we are able to help provide more than 164,000 meals for those Alameda County members who face food insecurity daily.

In the men’s division, 2024 winner, James Kinney, and 2024 runner-up, Sandy Floren, battled it out through the first 2/3rds of the course with Sandy eventually pulling away on Redtail. Sandy ultimately finished first with James in second and young gun, Nils Hummel, taking third

In the women’s division, Sophia Tripcevich returned to reclaim her title from 2024, followed by Sadie Weiner in second and Elle Floren in 3rd. Sophia also once again took home the prizes for top female junior AND QOM!

  • One Week to Go!

One week to go! We rode the course this morning and it’s in perfect shape. The recent rains and some of the grading work EBRP has done have made for fast, tacky trails. There are very few loose areas (beginning of Goldenrod there are some leaves in the corners; descent of Redtail there are leaves and some loose dirt at the very end).

The weather looks to be perfect for the ride next Saturday with cool temps at the start, warming as the sun breaks through the clouds later in the morning.

Here is this year’s course: 2025 East Bay Dirt Classic Course. The only change from last year is a minor change on Goldenrod and we will have a course marshall at that point directing cyclists to avoid confusion.

Reminder: The course start is at 5656 Weaver Place in Oakland. Parking is along Skyline, NOT on Weaver Place. The first wave will roll out with a neutral start at 9 am. Each successive wave will roll out in 15-20 minute intervals following the first wave.

Bring a bathing suit and appetite for the pool party and barbecue following the event. Awards for top competitors and raffle prizes will be handed out at the after party.

Thank you for joining us for the 2025 EBDC and helping support our friends at the Alameda County Community Food Bank! See you next Saturday!

  • 3 Weeks to Go…

Just under 3 weeks to go! As of Sunday, September 21st, we have 80 registered riders, so make sure you register soon! We have some incredible prizes for the top performers as well as winners of raffle tickets purchased ahead of time or at the barbecue. Pizzaiolo just donated a $150 gift certificate to the event! We also have tons of incredible products from Peak Design, beer from Ghost Town Brewing and East Brother Beer, gift certificates and a commuter bike (!) being donated by Mike’s Bikes, and cycling kits from Pearl Izumi, just to name some of the prizes.

We will be doing a final pre-event ride the weekend of October 4th and posting up-to-date course conditions and an updated course map after that.

Looking forward to seeing you all on October 11th!

  • Less than 2 months….

The date is set for the 2025 East Bay Dirt Classic – Saturday, October 11th. The course remains the same from last year and can be found here. It is a hair under 21 miles and a hair over 3,000 feet of climbing on mostly rolling fire roads with some single track.

In prior years, most participants have ridden the course on a hardtail or light full suspension mountain bike or a gravel bike.

Registration will be entirely online this year and is capped at 130 competitors. We have sold out the last few years, so please register early. There will be three waves of riders, with the first wave for the fastest cyclists going off at 9:00 am and each successive wave going off in 15 minute intervals.

All registered riders are invited to attend the post-event barbecue and pool party. There will be incredible prizes from our generous sponsors given out to our top 3 female and male competitors and our KOM and QOM winners (segment to be released in a later post). As always, the top male and female finishers will receive custom East Bay Dirt Classic belt buckles. There will be additional prizes awarded through a raffle which helps raise additional money for the Alameda County Community Food Bank.

Ultimately, this event is about raising desperately needed funds and awareness about our friends at the Alameda County Community Food Bank and the Alameda County residents who rely on their services. In total this event has helped to raise over half a million dollars for the ACCFB in the last several years.

    More updates to follow.

Looking forward to seeing you all on October 11th!

  • That’s a Wrap!

The 2024 East Bay Dirt Classic is in the books, and we at C510 have agreed it was the best year yet. We’re incredibly thankful it was not this past weekend in 98 degree weather. But mostly we’re grateful to all of you for joining us in this annual event to support our friends at the Alameda County Community Food Bank. Through registrations, donations and raffle tickets we raised over $70,000 this year!

Huge congratulations to our top competitors for 2024!:

    Our top female finishers:

    1. Alex Tripcevich
    2. Noelle Davis
    3. Katrina Rapa

Alex, a Berkeley High student, was not only our top female finisher but also our QOM holder and Best Young Rider! Since our sponsors are heavy on the beer and wine, we had to make some last minute changes since she took home more than one top prize…She’s clearly going to have a couple more years of strong showings here at the East Bay Dirt Classic.

    Our top male finishers:

    1. James Kinney
    2. Sandy Floren
    3. Jason Tang

Fresh of his recent Tunnel Road KOM setting ride, James also set the KOM for our 2024 EBDC segment. His win was due after a couple of 2nd place finishes i the past. Our best young male rider award this year went to 16 year-old Oliver Jacobs. Oliver told us he DNF’d last year. Then he came out this year to notch 6th in a very fast field. Definitely more to come from Oliver next year.

Please check out photos from the event here and here! Many thanks to C510 members Josh Posamentier, Ben Duchac and Peter Lockett for chronicling the event!

We’ll be back on again next year with our hope to return to mid-October. Watch out for our “Save the Date” in the coming months.

Finally we want to acknowledge our generous sponsors who donated some incredible prizes for our top finishers and raffle winners. Please take some time to visit them at their links below:

Thank you again for your support. Safe riding and hope to see you next Fall!

    • Your friends at C510
  • Less than 24 hours to go

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow! Weather and trails are perfect for riding right now.

    A couple of quick reminders:

    • Please arrive by 8 am to ensure a smooth registration process.
    • Please link your Strava account by clicking here. This ensures you will be included in the KOM/QOM competition.
    • There will be 3 waves based on your selection when you registered, each with neutral roll out about 15 minutes apart.
    • Please download the course to your GPS device. We will also be doing our best to mark the course this evening with flour and colored flags and we will have volunteers on course to assist at some points.
    • We will have GU handups at the intersection of Brandon and Skyline (see older post below this one for full details).
    • After crossing the footbridge, Go left on Cameron Loop, not right.
    • Finally: Have fun, be safe and bring your bathing suit!
  • Saturday, Saturday, Saturday!

Looking forward to seeing everyone Saturday morning! The address of the registration site and after-party is: 5656 Weaver Place, Oakland, CA, 94619. Please park along Skyline Drive, NOT on Weaver Place.

Registration onsite opens at 8 am. Please arrive early to help ease the registration process. Wave 1 will have a neutral roll-out at 9 am. Waves 2 and 3 will have neutral roll-outs in 15-20 minute intervals after Wave 1. Current weather forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the low 60s at the start.

The post-event barbecue will begin as riders return following the event, with food available beginning around 12 pm. Awards and raffle will begin at 1:30 PM. We have great prizes for our top finishers, KOM and QOM segment winners and raffle ticket winners. There is a pool and currently temperatures near the end of the event are forecast to be sunny and in the low 70s, so bring a bathing suit if you want to swim.

The 2024 course is here: 2024 East Bay Dirt Classic Course. Please download the route to your preferred GPS device to avoid missed turns. We will mark any tricky parts of the course, but despite marking the course in each of the prior editions, there have remained confusing intersections. Of note, this year’s course stays on Goldenrod the entire time until Jackson Grade whereas in previous years the course used Jalquin Trail. So stay on Goldenrod the entire way to Jackson Grade:

Also, currently the San Leandro Creek is full, so riders will have to dismount at the foot bridge between Honker Bay and Cameron Loop and walk bikes across.

For those who have elected to compete in the virtual edition of the 2024 EBDC, you can view the leaderboard here: Current Virtual Course Leader Board. If you don’t see your name here and have ridden it, please let us know.

Please feel free to reach out with any last minute questions. See you all Saturday!

  • 2024 Course Preview

A few of us rode the course this morning and it is riding very well. A couple of quick notes:

    • Recommend downloading the course as a GPX file to your GPS device of choice for turn by turn directions. I also recommend you ride the course ahead of time as there are a couple of confusing junctions, especially on Brandon Trail.
    • There is water at mile 6.7 along Brandon Trail and also at the golf course (mile 13.5 or so). We will also offer GU hand ups for those who need at the top of the Brandon/Skyline climb (mile 7.3 outbound and mile 15.3 inbound).
    • There are a few areas with loose sand/rocks on Brandon on some sweeping descending right turns and Towhee is fast and fun singletrack, but has some loose areas as well with Eucalyptus leaves/bark, etc. The descents on Red Tail between mile 17 and 18 are fast, rutted, loose and at times, off-camber. Bottom line is this is a dirt course and hazards exist on the trail. Please stay in control at all times.
    • Currently the path alongside the pedestrian bridge near Lake Chabot (mile 11), linking Honker Bay Trail and Cameron Loop Trail is dry and rideable. Please do not use the bridge.
    • The Proctor Staging Area parking lot (mile 13) is closed at this time. You can still ride into it at the end of Ten Hills trail and out of it on the Southern (right as you come into the lot from the trail) exit and left onto Redwood Road for a few yards before jumping back onto Proctor Trail to the golf course.
    • We’ll update again closer to race day. 4 weeks to go!
  • Registration is now open!

The 2024 East Bay Dirt Classic registration site is now open! Please click on the link here to register. All registrants will receive a custom 2024 East Bay Dirt Classic t-shirt, but the deadline for registering to receive a t-shirt is September 13th, 2024. The course this year is the same as last year and will be entirely in Anthony Chabot Regional Park.

We have a whole host of incredible sponsors for our event again this year, and prizes will go to the top finishers in our male and female categories and prizes will also be given out during a raffle a the post-ride party on September 28th. Tickets for the raffle will be given to those participants who donate additional money to the ACCFB during registration. We even have a new commuter bike donated by Mike’s Bikes as one of this year’s prizes! As usual, the top female and male will win custom 2024 East Bay Dirt Classic belt buckles.

As we return to our one day event with a mass start, we will limit the number of participants to 130 and break the start into three waves based on anticipated finishing time. The registration page will ask riders to select their wave based on last year’s time or expected time, with Wave A being geared toward the fastest participants and Wave C towards those taking more time to complete the course. The start of each wave will be 15 minutes apart.

We look forward to seeing you all on September 28th!
